These lotion bars are great for hydrating your skin and soothing skin irritations. They also make for a great gift item, for a friend, your mom or even your boyfriend (mine already stole mine to use on his face). With the preparation being very easy, these are a great DIY project for beginners!

The fragrance is Chai tea (because I made these for a friend who loves Chai tea), but of course you could do any fragrance you like – such as chocolate, rose, peppermint, vanilla, orange, or lavender

Ingredients

1/4 cup organic beeswax
1/4 cup organic shea butter
1/4 cup organic sunflower oil
1 bag of Chai tea (alternatively: 1 tsp ground cinnamon + 1 tsp ground nutmeg + 1/4 tsp ground cardamom + 1/4 tsp ground ginger)

Directions

Fill a sauce pan with a few inches of water. Place a bowl (or an old mason jar) in the water. Bring water around the bowl to a gentle boil.

Add all ingredients to the bowl and stir to combine. Stir frequently until melted. Remove from heat.

Pour melted lotion into silicone molds (I use a heat-proof heart-shaped ice cube tray). Set aside and allow to cool.

That's it!Store in a jar or in tins out of direct heat and hot areas.

To Use

Whenever your skin feels dry or rough, rub the bar over your skin. The heat of your body will melt it just enough to leave a light moisturising layer that absorbs much faster than any salves or body butters do. You can also warm them before applying to your skin by rubbing between your hands, then rub the melted lotion on your hands over parts of your body to moisturise.

Personally, I use this after showering to soothe my sensitive skin.
