About Me

Hey there. This is me: Mäisy (pronounce: macy). I'm the life-loving German girl behind Becoming Alice. A place where I express myself in all sorts of creative ways and hopefully inspire you on your own lifestyle journey! Here you will find posts on:
  • Ways to simplify and "healthy-fy" your life.
  • Body positivity, self-love and empowerment.
  • Maintaining a minimalist, stress-free, balanced lifestyle.
  • Healthy recipes that are vegan, vegetarian or plant-based and that you and your family can actually enjoy.
  • DIY beauty products, household helpers or homemade gifts for friends and family.
  • Homemade natural remedies and wellness tips.
  • Inspiration for when you feel sluggish and in search of a little dose of motivation.

This website is devoted to the little things in life. Simple foods, everyday finds, homemade joys, holistic living, thoughts of a free spirit, and other bits and pieces of a peace-loving, wholehearted, Ayurveda influenced, flower-power lifestyle :)

So. My name is Maisy – well, my nickname to be precise. I'm 27 years old, 5'6'' small, I am a writer, a travel monkey, a student of life. I call myself a creative mind – I love the challenge of having a small budget, but turning out a great piece! I'm bubbly, smiley, adventurous, vulnerable, an introvert, sometimes extrovert, and nothing makes me happier than being out in the wild and being by myself every now and again. Writing, dancing, singing, and daydreaming is what keeps me going. My room mate sometimes says, living with me is like living in a Disney movie.

Oh, and my boyfriend and I are are now the proud parents of a baby beech tree!! (see below)

I did my master's in Transnational Literary Studies in Northern Germany and was trained at a renowned publishing house in Cologne. Currently I work three jobs: as a reader at a small local publishing house, as a creative writing lecturer at university, and as a freelance writer and reader for various projects.

I have a fascination for languages, photography, cinematography, travelling, adventuring, listening to people's stories and telling my own. (Not in the best or most perfect English, but I try my best!) At the moment I'm trying to figure out my academical "future" and aspiring to publish my novel in near future. I like to remind myself that J.R.R. Tolkien was 45 when he published The Hobbit.

Current Obsessions: over-sized mugs, singing (even to instrumental pieces), squirrels, papayas, crystals, crunchy granola, fresh flowers, essential oils, candles (always).
Favourite Books: The Lord of the Rings, The Book Thief, The Opposite of Loneliness, milk and honey.
Favourite Films: The Lord of the Rings, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Avatar: The Last Airbender (the series. not the movie. let's just pretend there is no movie).
Favourite Places: London, Chiang Mai, South Africa, Venice, in trains, and at home with my family.
Favourite Quote: Ships in harbour are safe, but that's not what ships are built for. ~ John Shedd
