Warming Winter Chocolate Smoothie Bowl (vegan)

suitable for: vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free, nut-free, raw food, and delicious "even so"

For me, this is the perfect breakfast option for winter because it is not only warming and filling due to the bananas and oats, but also contains a lot of vitamins thanks to the orange juice as well as the Romaine lettuce and the green tea i snuck into the smoothie! 

And the best thing is: you can't even tell by the taste that there's lots of green healthy stuff in this baby! :)

Ingredients

Smoothie
3 ripe bananas
about 2-3 tbsp oats *
1 small head of Romaine lettuce or any other leafy greens
1 bag of green tea (optional)
2 tbsp cacao powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
sweetener of choice - i'm using a teensie bit of stevia extract
1/2 cup of fresh orange juice or 1 fresh orange

Toppings
2-3 tbsp oats *
raisins
shredded coconut
(if you happen to have any at hand, put some chia seeds, hemp hearts, mulberries, goji berries, nuts, coconut flakes, coconut sugar, cacao nibs and/or fresh fruit on top as well!)

* Note: the oats themselves are not raw, however the method is raw since i am not cooking them! Feel free to sub for buckwheat or shredded coconut or chopped nuts to make this oatmeal recipe fully raw!


Instructions

This is super easy: Place all of your smoothie ingredients in the blender and blend.

Pour everything into a large breakfast bowl and finished off your favourite toppings: for me, that was oats, raisins and shredded coconut. You could also add some chopped apples, almond slices, or whatever else you think would go with the wintry taste of this smoothie bowl. Oh, and I paired this with a glass of orange juice for some vitamin C.

Tip: For more warmth, warm this up in the microwave before eating!
