reading time: ca. 3 min

bro·mance/ˈbrəʊmans/ n 1 a portmanteau of the two words "brother" and "romance" 2 a close non-romantic relationship between two (or more) men, a form of affectional or homosocial intimacy.

1. Frodo & Sam

why: because I am a nerd.
(Sam and Frodo will always have my little heart ♡)

2. Aang & Zuko

who: Prince Zuko, Avatar Aang
where: Avatar: The Last Airbender
why: because they are great opponents, making them even greater friends who constantly tease each other and won't admit their affection for one another.

3. Sherlock & Watson

who: John Watson (Martin Freeman), Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch)
where: Sherlock
why: Oh, Sherlock and Watson. How I love thee. Now that's is a different kind of bromance: the complete partnership. And messing with the other. (i love how Watson has to explain to Mrs. Hudson several times that he is not gay) These two were meant for each other. A brunette and a blond with an inseparable bond, lol.

4. Merlin & Arthur

who: Prince Arthur (Bradley James), Merlin (Colin Morgan)
where: Merlin
why: that's why

5. Tom & Rupert

who: Marcus Butler, Alfie Deyes
where: Youtube @MarcusButlerTV @PointlessBlog
why: because it's great to see two of my favourite British youtubers, whom i was watching independently of one another, end up as friends in real life. It's almost like a movie couple that becomes an off-screen couple, like Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone :) (also: watch this)

7. Professor X & Magneto

who: Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender)
where: X-Men: First Class
why: if you've watched X-Men: First Class and you haven't noticed the sizzling chemistry between the two mutants then i can't help you. There was a lot of meaningful gazing between MacAvoy and Fassbender, both of whom are worth gazing at ;)

8. Ryan & Colin

who: Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie
where: Whose Line Is It Anyway?
why: if they didn't have wives, they'd be married to one another for sure ;) they can practically read each other's minds, have no shame around each other and make a great team that manages to crack me up every time!

9. Philippe & Driss

who: Driss Vassary (Omar Sy), Philippe (François Cluzet)
where: Intouchables
why: because this is the kind of unexpected friendship that will make you laugh and will make you cry. and because it is based on a true story.

10. Tyler & I

who: Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), Narrator (Edward Norton)
where: Fight Club
why: just go watch the film. twice.

11. L & Light

who: Light Yagami, L
where: Death Note
why: well, maybe "bromance" isn't the right word for this passionate rivalry, but they have great chemistry/tension, no doubt!

12. Tim & Struppi

who: Tintin, Snowy
where: The Adventures of Tintin
why: because they're the greatest companions. He talks to his dog, and they've saved each other's lives a dozen times! And because this is practically my childhood... sigh.

What's your favourite bromance? i'd love to know!
