Summer Reads for the beach

Best Books To Read In Summer, beach books, beach reads

Is there a better way to pass the time than reading when you are on the plane, on the train, in the car or simply at a nice peaceful forest lake? (Well, listening to music or drawing i suppose. But that's beside the point.) The point is: no, there isn't.

Reading is great and that's why i made this summer short list of books i love to read on a long car drive or by the pool or where-the-heck-ever. They are light-hearted, witty, quirky and overall very quick and enjoyable reads.

My favourite breezy books for summer include:

Bridge of Birds: A Novel of an Ancient China That Never Was, Barry Hughart
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams
Wonder, R.J. Palacio
Neverwhere, Neil Gaiman

(make that: any book by Neil Gaiman. reading them in gleaming sunlight will also prevent you from the urge to hide under your blanket at night because his novels will probably cause you to have the weirdest dreams. just saying.)

What are your favourite books to read at the beach, on a picnic or on summer holidays? Summer-related or not, i'd love to know what you are reading right now or planning to read this summer!

Lots of love and sunshine (and good books) ~

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I read it in like an hour an a half. Currently I'm reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. It is hard to describe but has to do with an alternate reality/history with dark fantasy mixed in. I think it's quite good.

    1. Aah, great addition to the list! i've been wanting to read 1Q84 myself, and the way you describe it sounds perfect for me :) Murakami's "Kafka on the Shore" is actually sitting in my shelf next to me right now. Must read it this summer!
      Have a great weekend ~
